REVIEW & SWATCHES: Urban Decay Electric Palette

HELLO HUMANS!

Sorry for slacking on the blog posts and reviews. I’ve been really busy and was on a social media detox 0:) But today I’m going to be reviewing the much raved Urban Decay Electric Pressed Pigments Palette. I know its kind of old news, but I was really excited when I got mine, so here we go!

 Packaging:

Urban Decay has officially learned their lesson about those weak cardboard packaging and settled to this tin metal material that is very sturdy and durable.

The product design is uber cute and really does draw your attention. I appreciate the huge mirror that comes in the palette, especially because it is sturdy and great to put on the table. Plus, it comes with a dual ended brush which I have yet to touch.

Formula:

There’s no questioning Urban Decay eye shadows formulation. But I kind of doubted the idea of pressed pigments. They always seem to be more of a shadow rather than pigments when its pressed. True enough this palette didn’t strike me much for pigments.

They are pigmented and creamy. The only colour that disappoints me is Revolt. The other shadows applies like a dream in just one coat without primer. Revolt felt more like a top coat to me. The less shimmering shadows: Gonzo, Savage and Chaos, were a little bit harder to blend in my opinion. But Jilted, Urban and Freak applied so easily.

The colour range is also great, although I would appreciate another tone of red or green since there’s already three blue ones here: Gonzo, Fringe and Chaos. THANK GOD FOR THE COMBINATION OF TEXTURES! Gonzo, Savage and Chaos are matte in texture, but still creamy. Revolt is crazy shimmering. Fringe, Jilted, Urban and Freak are metallic colours. Urban Decay has this tendency to call frosty shades metallic, so these are frosty to my eyes. Thrash and Slowburn are actually matte shades with hints of pearls on it, I never really tried a matte shadow like these before and its pretty interesting. Its not overly matte which makes it bright, but not so light reflective like satin.

Urban Decay shadows tends to have quite the amount of fall out, more than MAC shadows but less than Too Faced shadows. Being pressed pigments didn’t discard this palette from that fall-out category.

WARNING! It did say in the back of the palette that the colours Slowburn, Savage, Jilted and Urban are not meant for use on the direct eye area. I think this may because it has some red pigments on it, which some people are allergic to. IF YOU ARE ALLERGIC TO REDS, AVOID THESE.

Pricing:

The product cost me IDR 915k from the original price of IDR 985. It retails for USD 49 at the Sephora website. It is way more expensive than say the NAKED palettes from Urban Decay. But seeing that these shadows are pressed pigments and are way more colorful than those palettes, I think it is worth it. If you are not a fan of using bold colours, then I suggest waiting for a good deal before investing on this baby.

Overall Comment:

I think this palette is awesome. It is so inspiring for those who like to go bold and colorful on the eyes. Pricy though, so really consider how much you’re going to use it before buying this product. Compared to the other colorful products in the market, this is definitely of great quality. I wouldn’t repurchase it though because Urban Decay will probably come up with something similar soon.

Overall Verdict:

9/10
